Turning raw materials into products through long and largely automated processes is at the core of the process industry’s business. Consistent quality, efficiency, safety and profitability are the daily goals. Here, the functionality and reliability of the systems are of primary importance. ICT equipment and its management are a key part of ensuring continuity in the event of disruptions. What are your company’s most important functions and services that are essential to be available in disruptions?
NIS2 – ISO 27001 Continuity Management
Continuity management is an essential part of both the NIS2 directive and the ISO 27001 standard. Their requirements are directly comparable to each other. The directive obliges the operator to take care of backups, recovery, crisis management and continuity, while the ISO standard is based on risk management.
How should the company respond to these requirements? While NIS2 sets requirements, the ISO 27001 standard provides concrete tools for continuity management. It provides guidance on the company’s operations and resources on several levels.
Preparations for disruptions are made, for example, with the help of an impact analysis, which helps to map out the measures needed to maintain a sufficient level of information security during a disruption and how to protect the company’s most valuable information.
